Church: The Flame of Byhalia
Location: Byhalia, Mississippi
Position: Pastor (Full-Time)
Overview
The Flame of Byhalia is a Christ-centered, welcoming church seeking a pastor to lead us in spiritual growth, community engagement, and faithful discipleship. We value strong biblical teaching, meaningful worship, and practical ministry that reaches people where they are. While we have Methodist roots, we are open to pastors from a variety of Christian backgrounds who align with Wesleyan theology and values.
Primary Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
- Preach and teach biblically sound, relevant sermons
- Lead worship services that are engaging and Christ-focused
- Provide pastoral care, including hospital visits, counseling, weddings, and funerals
- Encourage spiritual growth through prayer, discipleship, and small groups
Church Leadership & Administration
- Provide vision and leadership in collaboration with church leadership
- Oversee staff and volunteers as applicable
- Help guide the church’s mission, values, and long-term goals
- Participate in church administration and planning as needed
Community & Outreach
- Build relationships within the Byhalia community
- Encourage and lead outreach and service opportunities
- Represent the church in local events and partnerships
Desired Qualifications
- A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry
- Experience in pastoral leadership or ministry (preferred)
- Background in Methodist/Wesleyan tradition or openness to Methodist theology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Heart for people of all ages, including families and young adults
- Ability to lead with humility, integrity, and vision
Education
- Formal theological education preferred but not required
- Equivalent ministry experience will be considered
Compensation
- Salary and benefits negotiable based on experience and position structure
- Housing allowance or parsonage (if applicable) to be discussed
